Why This Index?
India’s energy transition is being financed and delivered largely by listed companies. Solar, wind, hydro and hybrid generation assets now sit inside a growing set of public companies, yet there is no simple, transparent way to measure how that generation ecosystem performs.
The India Green Energy Generation Index focuses strictly on owners and operators of renewable electricity-generation assets, excluding financiers and equipment suppliers. Nine companies form the 2022 base and later listings enter at scheduled quarterly reviews, while four weighting lenses reveal the effects of scale, breadth, concentration control and investible float.
